When to Rebrand Your PT Practice: Insights from Andy Sotirokos

Understanding the Need for Rebranding

Neil and Andy delve into the strategic decision-making behind rebranding a physical therapy practice. Andy, co-owner of Full Strength Physical Therapy, shares his journey from Solutions Physical Therapy to a more consumer-focused brand. The need arose from confusion with another similarly named practice and a desire to align more closely with their core purpose.

“There was some confusion at times between our company and another company with a similar name,” Andy explains. This prompted a deep dive into the practice’s culture and long-term goals, ultimately leading to a name change that better resonated with their mission to empower patients to live life at full strength.

The Rebranding Process

Andy emphasizes the importance of a thoughtful and methodical approach to rebranding. He spent over a year considering different names, utilizing tools like ChatGPT for inspiration, and eventually engaging a professional branding agency. This ensured the new brand was not only unique but also aligned with their mission.

“It was something that we’ve got to do at this point to kind of take us to the next level,” he notes, highlighting how the new name, Full Strength Physical Therapy, encapsulates their purpose and vision.

Andy also underscores the significance of involving the team in the rebranding process. Communicating the vision early on helped generate excitement and alignment within the practice, making the transition smoother.

Impact and Marketing Strategy

Following the rebrand, Andy reports overwhelmingly positive responses from both patients and staff. The new brand feels modern and is directly tied to their mission, creating a cohesive identity that resonates with their audience.

To mitigate potential dips in patient volume, Andy strategically increased their Google Ads budget and used multiple channels to communicate the change. This proactive approach resulted in no drop in new patient numbers, with local SEO actually improving post-rebrand.

“We were prepared for a decrease in new patients to come for a couple months if necessary,” Andy shares, but their efforts ensured growth instead of decline.

Leveraging Expert Help

Throughout the process, Andy highlights the importance of seeking expert guidance. From hiring a branding agency to engaging a fractional CMO, he leveraged external expertise to navigate the complexities of rebranding effectively.

“There’s a time to do it yourself and a time to bring in professional help,” Andy advises, recognizing that rebranding is a significant investment that sets the stage for future success.

For practice owners contemplating a rebrand, Andy’s experience underscores the value of aligning your brand with your core purpose, engaging your team, and strategically planning your marketing efforts to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
