August 2024 Core Algorithm Update
…What Does This Latest Core Algorithm Update Mean For Your Website?
Hopefully, you haven’t even noticed and there have been no shifts in your website’s search rankings lately, but we want you to be aware that there has been yet another Google core update! It began in August and only recently wrapped up at the beginning of September.
And, yet again, it was a big one.
This update focused on making sure that the best, most useful content gets top billing in search results. Google is now giving more weight to websites that provide detailed and helpful information, so informative and well-written content could actually result in an improvement in your rankings.
Additionally, Google is putting a stronger emphasis on the credibility of the content creators. Websites with information from experts in their fields might get a boost, especially in areas where trust is important. This is why we continually work to provide expert industry-specific information and advice as well as offer high-quality sources where we can.
Like with any algorithm update, we are keeping an eye on how these changes may affect your site. We expect impacts to be minimal and we will continue to focus on providing valuable, high-quality content to stay ahead.

Coming Soon! A New, Streamlined Google Ads Dashboard
The Google Ads Team (you may hear them referred to as PPC or Pay-per-click from time-to-time) has been working hard the past month to organize a new performance dashboard view to make Google Ads data more digestible and meaningful and aesthetically pleasing. Our goal is to have all clients equipped with this new dashboard by Monday, September 30th!
The new dashboard view gives you an in-depth look of performance including total volume of Google ads leads, conversion rate, cost per conversion, and even the number of conversions per keyword!
Among many of the new widgets and graphs on the Google Ads performance dashboard, the team has also implemented a glossary of terms to better equip our clients with the understanding they need to fully comprehend their results!

List Segmentation – A Simple Strategy In Email Marketing, That Can Improve Your Results
We couldn’t leave you hanging without a good pro-tip for getting the most out of your email marketing with Practice Promotions.
Arguably one of the easiest changes to implement into your strategy is the concept of list segmentation, a technique that divides an email list into smaller groups, or segments, based on shared characteristics.
The simplest characteristic of which is did the user open your previous email or not?
Our patient engagement team at Practice Promotions regularly monitors and segments your email lists to determine which patients engage most frequently with your content. We separate this group out from the patients who haven’t opened the last campaign (or even the last several campaigns).
When doing this and sending to the most engaged email list first, you’re sending a strong signal to email service providers (particularly Gmail and Yahoo!) that you’re a responsible marketer, and sending your content to patients that find it most relevant.
Think of it like a vote of confidence.
The email campaign that goes out to your most engaged audience will have a high-likelihood of being delivered straight to the top of email inboxes, and much less likely to be marked as spam. Because of this, you will typically see improved open rates of your email campaigns.

Now, when sending to the second segment of “non-openers” Gmail, Yahoo! and other email service providers already have a strong vote of confidence in the legitimacy of your brand and what you’re sending, this will also improve the results of the non-opener campaign. Sort of a rising tide lifts all ships concept? Following? Great!
Our patient engagement team actively employs this method for your digital newsletter sending out an initial campaign to email subscribers and a follow up campaign to non-openers. This is not an instant action, instant success technique, but overtime, you will see improvements in email marketing results.
Typically, we see the volumes of engagement success rise even higher with active email recipients, and for the unengaged patients, what’s the harm?! Getting at least a small response is better than nothing, so we see smaller open rates in general, but considering that these lists are usually 0 percent open rates, we consider any engagement to non-openers as a win!
The next time you’re sending an email campaign in Engage, give it a shot!
You can do this by scheduling an email campaign as you normally would, and then allowing a day or so to pass. At the conclusion of that period following the first campaign, you can quickly prompt a resend of that email campaign (maybe tweak the subject line too!), but this time send it to non-openers, the results may be a pleasant surprise 🙂
